Responsibilities & Context
Team Management: Supervise welders and welding teams to ensure tasks are completed according to the project timeline and standards. Assign tasks based on skills, experience, and project requirements. Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior welders.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Ensure that welders adhere to industry regulations, such as OSHA standards and company-specific safety guidelines. Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to raise awareness about potential hazards.
Quality Control: Monitor and inspect welding processes to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Perform visual inspections and tests, including non-destructive testing (NDT), to ensure the integrity of welded structures. Address any issues or defects that arise during welding operations, ensuring repairs are made promptly.
Process Optimization: Analyze and improve welding procedures to enhance productivity and reduce waste. Recommend and implement best practices for welding techniques and material handling. Collaborate with engineers and other departments to optimize design and material choices for weldability.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including work completed, inspections, and certifications.Report project progress, challenges, and any non-compliance issues to management.Ensure that welding logs and quality assurance documentation are up-to-date and accessible.
Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of welding machines and tools to ensure they are functioning correctly. Ensure the proper setup of welding machines and the calibration of equipment as needed.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Quickly address any welding problems, such as equipment malfunctions, material issues, or personnel difficulties. Work with engineers and technical experts to resolve complex welding challenges.
